SNIC director is resigning

The Director of SNIC, Hans Karlsson, is resigning from his duties at the end of the current year. The current Deputy Director Lars Nordström will step in as Acting Director. Lars Nordström is an Associate Professor in materials theory at Uppsala University. He has been Deputy Director of SNIC since March 2020, and has previously chaired the allocation committee SNAC.

“I am very much looking forward to taking on the role as Acting Director. There is an immense amount of competence within SNIC and hope that I will be able to run the organisation as well as Hans has done. For me, it is important that SNIC continues to meet the needs of Swedish researchers when it comes to national computing resources and user support.” says Lars Nordström, Acting Director of SNIC from 1 January 2022.

“I want to thank Hans for his significant contribution to SNIC, and also for the great collaboration we have had over the past two years. In these times of upheaval, it is comforting to know that it is Lars who will take over, since he is already familiar with the operation of SNIC and that means continuity for both the national organisation and its users.” says Ingela Nyström, Chairman of the SNIC Board.
