Instructions for PRACE allocations
The Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe (PRACE) Research Infrastructure provides a persistent world-class high performance computing service for scientists and researchers from academia and industry in Europe. The mission of PRACE is to enable high impact scientific discovery and engineering research and development across all disciplines to enhance European competitiveness for the benefit of society. PRACE seeks to realize this mission by offering world class computing and data management resources and services through a peer review process.
Scientists and researchers from around the world can apply for access to PRACE resources. The PRACE Access Committee, composed of leading European scientists and engineers, ranks the project proposals that will be awarded access to PRACE resources.
There are multiple types of calls for proposals in PRACE:
- Tier-0 Regular Project Access. These are calls for proposals to access the largest European HPC systems. Calls are issued twice a year.
- Tier-0 Preparatory Access. This is a continuously open call with cut-off dates every 3 months. This call is meant for (A) code scalability testing, (B) code development and optimization by the applicant, (C) code development with support from experts from PRACE or (D) code adaption and optimisation process on a PRACE Tier-1 system and additional limited Tier-0 system access for testing purposes..
- Tier-1 (DECI) Access. PRACE also issues calls for proposals to access the PRACE Tier-1 systems. These are large national HPC systems. Calls are issued twice a year. More information about these calls can be found at http://www.prace-ri.eu/DECI-Projects.
For instructions on how to apply for access to PRACE Tier-0 resources, see http://www.prace-ri.eu/.
